How to participate
Getting Started
Before you go into the experience of contributing, you need to understand every detail of each project.
1. As you enter the project's page, you'll first see an introduction describing the piece.

2. Following this, there will be notes that you should follow. (e.g. What you can expect to come up as unplayable within a part you select).

3. The section after that gives you the following links: A Registration Form, Sheet Music, and Audio+Click Tracks.

4. The project will have a deadline, followed by a dropbox link where you can submit audio, and (if possible), optional video files.
Contributing
Now that you understand the idea, here is the step-by-step process for participating.
1. Get Your Equipment
-
You need some equipment to record your part.
-
Professional musicians use high-quality microphones and setups, but it’s not required.
-
Many people just use their phones, which can still produce good results.
-
If you use a phone, make sure to listen to the click track with headphones on a separate device. This prevents the click track from being recorded in your audio.
2. Prepare the Click Track
-
A click track is like a metronome; it helps you stay in time.
-
Download the click track for your project.
-
Open it in any audio software (DAW) you have, such as Audacity, GarageBand, or FL Studio.
-
You can choose any variation of the click track from the Google Drive folder, depending on your preference.
3. Record Your Part
-
Play the click track while recording your part.
-
Focus on performing your part clearly and steadily.
-
If you are new, you can record your part in one take. Don’t worry about making it perfect.
4. Edit Your Recording (Optional)
-
After recording, you can make some adjustments if you want.
-
You can reduce background noise, apply a little EQ, or remove sections where your part is silent (tacets).
-
If you are new to recording, it is perfectly fine to skip editing and submit the raw recording.
5. Export Your Audio
-
Once you are happy with your recording, export it from your DAW.
-
Name your file carefully:
-
Include the Project Name, your Selected Part, and your Contributor Name.
-
Use the name you submitted in the registration form.
-
-
You can choose any audio format, but WAV files are best for high-quality audio.
6. Submit Optional Videos
-
You can also submit a video if you want.
-
Play the click track and your recorded audio through your device speakers while recording the video.
-
Depending on your editing skills, you can also layer your original audio into the video for better sound quality.
-
Follow the same steps for naming and exporting your video as you did with your audio.
